Studies and Concentrations of the University of Maryland (UMD) Public Policy

This school teaches public policy, as it relates to managerial training and international dealings. This coursework will help students take on challenging and fulfilling careers like criminology, government, business, environmental science, and politics. One of the most appealing features of the School of Public Policy is that it combines domestic and international studies into one degree. Graduates can look forward to a world view of public dealings, in Master of Public Policy (MPP), Master of Public Management (MPM) and PhD degrees.

The UMD Public Policy school offers extensive studies in relevant subjects such as environmental policy, development, leadership, nonprofit management, social policies and acquisition training on the federal level. Since 1982, the school has been providing excellent training programs for tomorrow’s future leaders, the ones in charge of global prosperity. Program studies include civil learning, environmental research, intelligent research, security studies, or private enterprise, philosophy, and smart growth. There is also a program for welfare, crime and justice, and biotechnology.

A resume, writing sample, and statement of purpose may also be requested, depending on the course of application.

Student Organizations at the UMD School of Public Policy

One of the best reasons to become involved with the UMD School of Public Policy is the student organizations on campus can help with training and experience. These options include the IDEV Council, covering international development issues, The Policy Student Government Association, which helps with the university community, and the Graduate Women in Public Policy, which helps with the student and alumni relationships.

If you truly want to make a difference in the world, rather than waiting for others to deliver their promises, then it’s about time you stepped up to the challenge. You have the potential to get involved in leadership, company management, and perhaps even in world affairs and politics. The UMCP and School of Public Policy can make this noble goal a reality.
