Higher Education Articles January 21, 2013

Those who aspire to follow a career in business and want to seek jobs in administration or management within an organization can get the knowledge and skills required by pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree. In this article, students will be informed about graduate programs, concentration options, coursework and career options, so students can make informed decision about their education.

Bachelor of Business Administration

Once a BBA program is completed, students will receive sufficient preparation for a business position in an organization through coursework that includes topics such as management, human resources and marketing. A BBA program typically lasts for four years, and the degree course imparts training to students in fundamental management and business principles. Prospective BBA graduates are usually allowed to choose one of several majors including accounting, marketing, computer information systems, real estate, finance, and international business. The practical management training imparted through a BBA degree program will prepare students to launch themselves on a successful career in small and large firms. Candidates applying for admission to a BBA program are typically required to maintain a high school diploma or equivalent qualification and may be required to take assessment tests in English and math.

Course Topic

Coursework in such programs covers business analysis skills, quantitative reasoning, communication, marketing, and management; the program makes students aware of global issues, and also imparts knowledge on business processes and practices, and an understanding of the role of economics in the global market. Apart from the above, there are several other topics covered in a BBA course. These include Consumer behavior, Human resource management, Budget development, Project management, E-business, Entrepreneurship fundamentals, Economics, Business law and ethics, and Business theory.

Popular Career Options

BBA graduates can occupy management positions in the corporate world. Employers seek BBA graduates when they consider candidates for a wide range of positions in different business areas. These include Cost estimator, Loss prevention manager, Sale manager, Security officer and Operation manager.

Continuing Education Information

BBA graduates who aspire to occupy senior executive positions and qualify for promotions may want to pursue continued education. They can seek to advance their education by completing a Master of Business Administration (MBA); this is a graduate degree program that many employers expect prospective candidates to complete when candidates seek positions such as Chief Operations Officer (COO) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Schools also offer Doctoral programs in business administration. Completing a doctoral degree program will qualify business professionals for jobs as university professors, executives and consultants.
