Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree in International Business

International business encompasses various disciplines, including finance, transportation, tourism, and trade. Individuals who want to pursue a career in international business may qualify for entry-level positions once they have earned their AAS degree in International Business.

AAS in International Business

Applicants who want to enroll in an associate degree program are required to hold a general educational development (GED) certificate or a high school diploma. The degree programs are designed to train students for entry-level positions with importers, transportation firms, exporters, and manufacturers. Training is given in business, accounting, marketing, and macroeconomics. Through the degree program, students will learn about concepts of critical thinking, develop problem solving skills, and learn how to communicate effectively.

Typically, these programs consist of sixty-four to seventy-one credit hours and usually take around two years to complete the program, if students are enrolled full-time. After completion of the associate degree program, graduates may seek continuing education through a bachelor or master degree program in international business that will boost their job prospects. Those seeking college-level teaching and research jobs can enroll in a Ph.D. program; a graduate certificate program would suffice the requirement of a working professional who is interested in enhancing his/her knowledge in the industry. The program coursework focuses on subject areas such as cultural differences in the industry, strategic planning, and ethical issues in international business.
