Degree Overview: Associate of E-Commerce Administration

Majors Overview May 26, 2013

Individuals need to learn how to plan, implement and manage web divisions of a brick and mortar company and profit generating websites in order to succeed on the Internet, a complex part of the world economy. That training can be provided by an associate degree program in business administration with an e-commerce concentration.

Associate Degree Program in Business Administration with Concentration on E-Commerce

Individuals will not find Associate of E-Commerce Administration degree programs available at any colleges or universities around the United States; those who seek basic education in the field can enroll in either an Associate of Applied science (A.A.S.) or an Associate of Science (A.S.) in Business Administration with an e-commerce focus. Enrolled students can complete the degree program within two years, if they are attending the program full-time; part-time programs will take approximately four years to complete. There are programs where students have the option to take the entire program online. The programs usually have an Internet component devised to help students generate and manage a firm’s revenue; students enrolled in the program will be trained to succeed in virtually any industry. Admission criteria in an associate degree program typically require applicants to hold a general educational development (GED) certificate or a high school diploma.

Information on Continuing Education

Graduates can pursue continued education by enrolling in either a Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) with an e-commerce major. Those who want to study beyond those levels can pursue a doctoral degree program in business-related fields with concentrations in e-commerce. An advanced degree will give candidates the chance to seek positions such as chief information officer or director of e-commerce.
