Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree Programs in Marketing

Students enrolled in marketing programs are prepared to assume leadership positions in numerous business environments. Students may seek employment in sales or initial research and development. A marketing program is devised to hone analytical skills in effective campaign organization, product merchandising, and consumer behavior.

Students are taught about collecting and interpreting consumer information aimed at making strategic decisions with current or new products. Concentrations in such areas as retail marketing, advertising, marketing research, and sales management are included in many programs.

Job and Wage Outlook

In 2012, there were about 174,010 individuals employed as marketing managers in the country (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS)). A job growth rate of 14% has been predicted for marketing managers over the 2010-2020 decade, with sales managers predicted to enjoy a 12% job growth during the same period. In 2012, marketing managers and sales managers took home average annual wages of $119,480 and $105,260, respectively.

Continuing Education Choices

Sales and marketing managers would benefit from earning a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) with a concentration in sales or marketing. While, armed with a bachelor’s degree, a graduate may seek entry-level careers, earning an MBA would be most suitable for professionals who seek career advancement opportunities.
