Associate of Business Science (A.B.S.): Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship
Majors Overview May 19, 2013Students enrolled in this program can get familiar with the diverse aspects of entrepreneurship, management and operation of businesses. They are imparted business skills including basic finance skills, business planning, business technology, teamwork, and professional communication.
Associate Degree Program in Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship
Generally, colleges and universities do not offer an Associate of Business Science program in small business management and entrepreneurship, students who are interested in this subject will be able to pursue a two-year associate degree program that earns them degrees such as Associate of Business Administration (A.B.A.), Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.), or Associate of Science (A.S.). Students in these programs will learn how to start and operate a small business. Classes usually concentrate on the management needs of small and medium sized businesses. A typical curriculum may range from start-up taxes and costs to e-commerce and employee supervision. Common degree program goals also include providing students with perspectives, general skills, and knowledge necessary to work in administrative or managerial roles with various non-profit and commercial organizations.

Continuing Education Information
Once students graduate from the associate degree program, they can choose to enroll in a bachelor’s degree program in small business management and entrepreneurship. Students enrolled in bachelor’s degree programs are imparted instruction through in-depth coursework that covers topic areas such as international business, advanced marketing techniques, economics and covering entrepreneurial expertise. Students opting for graduate level courses may choose to enroll in a Master of Business Administration (MBA). A student who wants to continue his or her education in entrepreneurial studies may choose to pursue an MBA with a concentration in management.
