Degree Overview: Associate of Science (A.S.) in Business Management

An Associate of Science in Business Management program will be beneficial for individuals who want training that will allow them to obtain entry-level jobs in the field immediately after they graduate. Associate degree program graduates can choose to further their education in business by pursuing a bachelor degree program after graduation.

A.S. in Business Management

Typically, admission criteria require applicants to hold a general educational development (GED) certificate or a high school diploma. Courses in these programs concentrate on organization and management. After students obtain departmental approval, they can enroll in a business internship program. The program may also include capstone experiences.

Program Coursework

Typically, business management associate degree program consists of sixty-one to sixty-eight credits and takes approximately two years to complete, if students are enrolled full-time. Degree programs will concentrate on subjects such as finance, economics, accounting, law, and communications. Students may receive training in spreadsheets and databases, computer applications, along with human resource management. Program course topics may include the following:

Career Options

Students who successfully complete the associate degree program will be prepared for management trainee positions in businesses. Positions on finance teams in governmental agencies, non-profit organizations, and companies will be available since these degree programs offer training in accounting. Work may be found in operations, distribution, transportation, and sales. Individuals may obtain the follow job titles:

•Office manager
•Operations coordinator
•Bookkeeper
•Administrative services manager

Students who have earned their Associate of Science in Business Management degree should consider pursuing a bachelor or master degree program in business administration or business management.
