Degree Overview: Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Degree in Marketing

Students will be taught the knowledge needed for careers in sales, business, and marketing in a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree program in Marketing. Plenty of schools offer a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree program in Marketing, which focuses on product development and design; Bachelor of Arts degree programs in Marketing and Design are not as common.

B.A. Programs in Marketing

Students enrolled in marketing programs are given the opportunity to combine knowledge of marketing with advanced skills in business technology and art. In the majority of programs, students are taught through the marketing portion about developing and managing marketing strategies, in addition to distribution, customer relations, advertising and purchasing.

Students are given the opportunity to become proficient in several industry-current specialties and technologies, including strategic marketing and digital media production that command value in the marketplace. Admission criteria typically require incoming students to hold a GED certificate or high school diploma.

Coursework

Advertising, visual communication, promotion, and product development are explored by students enrolled in the program, through the use of practical and theoretical techniques. Many programs allow students to build a resume and obtain real-world experience through completion of internships and capstone projects. Graduates can expect to become proficient in areas such as multicultural marketing, Internet commerce, and marketing theory. Coursework may include topic areas such as:

Career Choices

Graduates from a B.A. in Marketing can seek mid-level careers in the field of marketing and advertising in different work settings. Those interested in pursuing a career in modern marketing that involves leveraging the power of various media, including the Internet, would be benefited by earning a B.A. degree. Graduates can choose from different job titles such as:

Continuing Education Choices

Graduates may opt for continued education by enrolling in a Master of Business Administration (MBA) program, with a concentration in marketing. Students enrolled in these MBA programs are taught about understanding consumer needs, as well as creating and marketing products to satisfy those needs. Those who successfully complete the MBA program can aspire to positions of marketing leadership.
