Degree Overview: Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (B.S.B.A.) Degree in Human Resource Management

Students will be trained in the management fundamentals and laws used by human resource specialists and managers when they participate in the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (B.S.B.A.) degree program in Human Resource Management. Students will be taught how to motivate, counsel, and train potential employees.

Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (B.S.B.A.) Degree Programs in Human Resource Management

Students enrolled in Human Resource Management bachelor’s degree programs are provided with the practical and core business skills needed by human resource managers in private and public sectors, in addition to those employed with service and manufacturing industries. Psychological principles, as well as management fundamentals, are explored by students enrolled in the program. Wage administration, organizational development and employment procedures are examined by students. Participation in internships aimed at gaining real-world experience working with employees and employers are encouraged by most schools. BSBA programs are offered in both online and on-campus formats.

Admission criteria typically require incoming students to hold a GED certificate or high school diploma.

Coursework

Coursework in this type of degree program typically covers sociological principles, business economics and statistical techniques. There is an emphasis on managerial procedures, in addition to modes of balancing the economic objectives of an organization with group and individual needs. Job and Wage Outlook

A job growth of 21% has been predicted for human resources specialists over the 2010-2020 decade, while the growth rate for human resources managers was expected to be 13%. In May 2012, human resources managers took home an average salary of $99,720, while the corresponding earnings for human resources specialists amounted to $60,660 (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics).

Continuing Education Choices

BSBA graduates can pursue continued education by earning a master’s degree in Human Resource Administration or Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) with a focus on Human Resource Management. Additionally, the Society for Human Resource Management offers professional certifications that these graduates can volunteer for in order to boost their career opportunities.
